SaiPa Lappeenranta are returning to the Champions Hockey League after a one-year break and starting the competition today. In contrast to their opponent, the Finns are starting the CHL twice as visitors. Apart from the upcoming game they are playing Lulea in two days. Can it be an advantage for SaiPa Lappeenranta to start away? We will get the answer soon.

Markkanen stopped a hard shot and went down on the ice. Many players skated into the crease and the home forwards got the puck into the net. But the Finns started complaining. Was it a goalie interference? Or was the goal moved out its position? Probably not, the referee says it's a good goal! Scored by NICHOLAS PETERSEN, assisted by: Darin Olver, Daniel Fischbuch.
Quick Finnish answer and the score is now 1–1. JOHN McFARLAND found the puck at the left post and as there was nobody near him, he scored into the empty part of the goal. Assisted by: Tero Koskiranta and Joona Jaaskelainen.

Nice play by JOONA JAASKELAINEN in front of the net. The Finnish forward scored an early period goal and now it's SaiPa in the lead 2–1. Assisted by: Kalle Maalahti and Tero Koskiranta.
Even though Berlin played a power play, MATTI JARVINEN stole the puck in the neutral zone, got into a breakaway and scored with a nice move! The score is now 3–1. No assist.

What a play! Berlin scored a beautiful goal and made it 3–2. Nicholas Petersen appeared in a good position in front of Markkanen, but moved the puck to DANIEL FISCHBUCH on the left side and the home forward easily scored. Assisted by: Nicholas Petersen.
The visitors are back in a two-goal lead thanks to BRETT CARSON who burned Vehanen in the goal. Assisted by: Tero Koskiranta and Joona Jaaskelainen.
