What an incredible ending of the game for Wolfsburg who manages to seal the deal and make it to the playoffs.
Frölunda still won the group and makes the playoff together with the germans. (22:25:35)

    Game over.

    58:44
    Frölunda timeout.

    58:10
With 1:50 to go , Frölunda pull their goalie.

    57:00
Just three minutes to play here in Frölundaborg. As Wolfsburg has the lead, they will make it to the playoffs if this result stands.

    54:49
    Goal for Wolfsburg!
Yet again, Wolfsburg take advantage of a powerplay. Lubor Dibelka makes a great slap-pass which BRENT AUBIN tips in behind Johan Gustafsson and Wolfsburg are back in the lead.
Assisted by Lubor Dibelka and Jeff Likens.

    53:50
Wolfsburg gets a great chance here as Frölunda's Johan Sundström is penalized 2 minutes for cross-checking.

    53:05
Nothing much to report as there aren't happening much on the ice right now. Remember that Wolfsburg still are through to the playoffs even if they win during overtime/shootout, therefore I get the impression of that they're very careful with this tied – not rushing and risk any goal in the back.

    48:44
Great powerplay by Frölunda who has the puck in offensive zone almost for a whole 2 minutes, but Wolfsburg defends themselves really good and can kill the penalty.

    46:44
Penalty for Grizzlys Wolfsburg (Lubor Dibelka – 2 min., hooking).

    45:52
Mark Voakes, Wolfsburg, makes a great poke breaking a pass in the middle zone and gets it to Brent Aubin who almost gets a breakaway.

    45:34
D-man of Frölunda, John Nyberg, tries a wrister shot from the blue line, but despite a lot of traffic up front, Vogl makes a glove save and blocks the puck.

    43:24
Wolfsburg can't capitalize on this powerplay either as Frölunda are back on full strength.

    42:00
Tyler Haskins creates a breakaway and just barely score, but Johan Gustafsson can make a save despite being down on the ice.

    41:24
Penalty for Frölunda Gothenburg (Matt Donovan – 2 min., cross-checking).

    40:50
Frölunda are back on full strength.

    40:02
The 3rd period is underway and Wolfsburg starts it on the powerplay.

    40:01
    Start of 3rd period.

Wolfsburg started the 2nd period really good and pushed really hard to try increasing their lead, instead Frölunda came back scoring a goal that Sebastian Vogl possibly would like to have back when he looked quite surprissed getting beat by Mats Rosseli Olsen.
Frölunda dominated the second half of the middle period and created a few really good chances, but Vogl took revenge and came out huge for his team and saving them from a deficit. We have a tied game going into the 3rd period.

    Shots: 17-11 (7-4, 10-7) .

Game is tied after two periods.

    40:00
    2nd period finished.

    38:50
Frölunda's player Mats Rosseli Olsen draws an unnecessary penalty as he, from the bench, says something to the referee and gets 2 min. for Abuse of Officials. Powerplay coming up for Wolfsburg.

    38:26
Another great attack from Frölunda with a couple of dangerous re-directions in front of the net. Wolfsburg's netminder Vogl are playing really good!

    38:00
We're two minutes away from 2nd intermission, and it feels like Wolfsburg really longing for that break right now.

    36:36
Wolfsburg kills another penalty, but they're really pushed back right now.

    34:36
Penalty for Grizzlys Wolfsburg (Sebastian Furchner – 2 min., hooking).

    31:59
Wolfsburg shows why their all-clean on the PK in the tournament as they totally out-eliminated Frölunda's first powerplay of the game. Wolfsburg are back on full strength.

    29:59
Penalty for Grizzlys Wolfsburg (Alexander Dotzler – 2 min., slashing).

We'll witness Frölunda's first powerplay of the game. They're 42nd -ranked with just 1 goal on 15 powerplays (6,67%) so far in the tournament. They're facing an all-clean penalty kill (8/8).

    29:34
    Goal for Frölunda!
Frölunda's MATS ROSSELI OLSEN basically seem to dump the puck on net and Wolfsburg's goaltender Sebastian Vogl seem to get surprised as he can't keep the puck out of the net. We have a tie at 2.
Assisted by Sebastian Stålberg and Jonathan Sigalet.

    27:30
Wolfsburg's forward Kris Foucalt races for a loose puck at the offensive blue line, but Frölunda's goaltender Johan Gustafsson makes an incredible rush to get out (far!!) and poke away the puck to break the opportunity.

    25:45
Wolfsburg has had a really long attack in the offensive zone now and Frölunda are fighting hard to get it out.

    22:39
Frölunda creates a huge opportunity as Joel Lundqvist finds Casey Wellman in front of the net. Wellman gets a one-timer on the net, but a huge save by Vogl.

    21:54
Frölunda are back on full strength.

    21:15
Once again we witness a great powerplay from Wolfsburg, but they can't score on the chances they get. Instead, Simon Hjalmarsson (Frölunda) creates a turnover, but can't beat Sebastian Vogl in Wolfsburg's net.

    20:01
    Start of 2nd period.

The guests from Wolfsburg had to take at least two points to make the playoffs and they started this game really showing that they wanted to achieve that. Eventuelly, they capitalized on their 1st powerplay with 7:24 played (Tyson Mulock goal scorer). It just took another 1:36 before they scored another goal (by Sebastian Furchner) to put them themselves in a really good spot.
Wolfsburg were the better team and even though Frölunda cut the deficit by one (Casey Wellman), Wolfsburg has a well-deserved lead (2-1) going in to the 2nd period.

Shots in the 1st period, 7-4 in Frölunda's favor.

    20:00
    1st period finished.

    19:54
With just 6 seconds left of the period, captain Joel Lundqvist gets a 2 min. penalty for high-sticking.

    19:00
One minute remains of the 2nd period.

    16:15
Wolfsburg won't give up this lead, at least that's what they're trying to say with their physical and quick paced gameplan right now. Frölunda have stepped up a bit and are trying to use their speed more than in the early minutes of the game, and also by doing so gets Wolfsburg a pinch out of rhythm.
    13:45 Casey WELLMAN - 1:2

    13:45
    Goal for Frölunda!
CASEY WELLMAN bats a rebound and cuts the deficit to 1-2.
Assisted by Joel Lundqvist and Jacob Larsson.

    12:56
The referees split the penalties and two players from each team get 2 min. for Roughing (Jonathan Sigalet and Mats Rosseli Olsen for Frölunda, Gerrit Fauser and Philip Riefers for Wolfsburg).

    12:56
A huge scrum occurs out of, what it seems, nothing and all of a sudden all players on the ice gets involved. Expect a couple of penalties here.
    09:00 Sebastian FURCHNER - 0:2

    09:00
    Goal for Wolfsburg!
Wolfsburg creates a turnover and they capitalize beautifully as Sebastian Furchner puts the puck high above Gustafsson to make it 2-0!
Assisted by Tyler Haskins and Björn Krupp.

    08:56
Right after the goal, Frölunda creates a long attack in the offensive zone without capitalizing. Instead Wolfsburg can turn the game around and score another goal.
    7:24 Tyson MULOCK - 0:1

    7:24
    Goal for Wolfsburg!
Wolfsburg played a really good powerplay, creating scoring chance after scoring chance and eventually they could capitalize. Jeff Likens made a crosspass to TYSON MULOCK who could put the puck in net over the right shoulder of Frölunda's netminder Johan Gustafsson and Wolfsburg takes an important lead early in the game.
Assisted by Jeff Likens and Brent Aubin.

Wolfsburg has scored on 3 of their 11 powerplays so far in the tournament (27,27%) and are ranked at 11th place with that notation.
On the other hand, Frölunda has killed 91,67% of their penalties – just allowing 1 goal on 12 PK's.

    05:43
Frölunda's center Johan Sundström gets the first penalty of the game. 2 min. for Hooking.

    02:56
The game starts in an extremely high tempo and a couple of huge hits along the boards. Even though it's a difficult game in advance, Wolfsburg won't be giving away the dream of a playoff spot without a fight.

Good evening and welcome to this live report of the Champions Hockey League game between Swedish Frölunda HC and German Grizzlys Wolfsburg.

Frölunda have already won the group and the only thing that counts for Wolfsburg is a win today as they're two points behind Czech's Dynamo Pardubice.

Tonight's final game is very much a live event as Wolfsburg head to Gothenburg on the back of their 6-1 humbling in Pardubice. The Grizzlys must win the game in overtime at least, to then go through to the next round. Pardubice will advance if Wolfsburg only get one point or less from the game, so there will be some anxious people watching back in the Czech Republic as well.

Pär Johansson, assistant coach Frölunda Indians, said before tonight's game: "Wolfsburg is a team that works hard and plays a structured game. It was a tight game in Germany and we had problems finding our way to the goal."

    Welcome. Game starts at 20:00.
