Tonights game is a re-match between HV71 Jönköping and JYP Jyväskylä. The last time these two teams met, it had to be decided in a shootout, where JYP won 4-3.
HV71 are currently in the sixth place in the Swedish Hockey League and they are strong at home, with four wins out of four games.
HV71 have a theoretical chance to go to the next round as one of the five best twos, but they must win this one. Their best players are Mattias Tedenby, Erik Christensen, Erik Ersberg, Andreas Jämtin, Carl Ridderwall and captain Ted Brithén. Also the young talent Kevin Fiala is back from his tryout in the NHL and Nashville.
JYP won the tournament last year when it was known as the European Trophy. Last time JYP met HV71 at home, they won in a shootout. But now they're facing a very strong home team and if they don't want to be passed in the standings, JYP have to play a really good game.
In the Finnish league, JYP are currently in ninth place. Their top players are former HV71 player Mikko Louma, Mikko Mäenpää and Toumas Tarkki, who all have experience from the Swedish hockey system.
The game starts at 20:05 CET (21:05 EET) in Kinnarps Arena, Jönköping, Sweden.
