To make sure they stay on top of the Conference they need a three-point win against today's opponents Dynamo Moscow who are 3rd in Western Conference with 98 points before the last matchday. Should Avangard lose, they depend on the result of Ak Bars Kazan (101) points who play on the road against Vityaz Chekhov.

Avangard lost all their three last matches against Salavat Yulayev Ufa (1-6), Barys Astana (4-5) and SKA St. Petersburg (3-4 SO). For Dynamo Moscow the situation is not better as the current Gagarin Cup holders were beaten by SKA St. Petersburg (1-3), Barys Astana (2-4) and Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk (0-4).

The topscorers of Avangard are Alexander Frolov (39 pts), Tomas Zaborsky (37 pts) and Alexander Popov (28 pts).
