Sweden2
Saturday 27.04.2013, 14:00 • Kajot Arena, Brno, Czech Republic • Euro Hockey Tour

Classic defence that period by Sweden, as the Czech Republic did not get any real scoring chances. Even on their two power plays, they effectively kept the puck to the outside and forced shots from a distance, which were often blocked.

The 2012-13 Euro Hockey Tour has not been a success for Sweden so far, but this win puts them in first place in this part of it--the Czech Hockey Games. Later today, Finland takes on Russia, while all four teams finish up tomorrow in what will be the last tune-up games for all teams prior to the arrival of NHL reinforcements in time for the start of the World Championships. (16:12:59)

    60:00
    Game over.

    58:46
Breakaway for Hjalmarsson, he's denied by Salak but play continues in the Czech zone.

    57:21
Now Salak catches a long shoot-in and there'll be a faceoff in the Czech zone. Sweden not looking for offence at this time, now just trying to keep the puck out of their zone and doing a good job of it.

    56:50
Sweden ices the puck to kill off the rest of the penalty.

    56:00
The Czechs now with a brief power play, they have the puck in the Swedish zone but they're being kept to the outside.

    54:46
Sweden's power play is over as Johan Fransson is called for hooking, trying to stop a Czech shorthanded rush. We'll have 4-on-4 for :58, followed by a Czech power play.

    54:30
The puck is deflected out of play in the Czech zone. 1:16 left in the penalty.

    53:44
Sweden is going to the power play, as Lukas Kaspar got his stick up on Granberg down low in the Swedish zone. With them generating some pressure lately, this is a big chance for the Swedes to relieve that.

    52:50
Play stopped with some heavy traffic in the Swedish crease. Hertl was trying to generate something down low, then went back to the point to Petr Caslava. His shot was deflected out of play by a Swede, so the faceoff stays inside.

    51:35
A high wrister from the top of the slot by Petr Vrana is caught and held by Gustafsson. He's had several shots this game.

    50:48
    Offside Sweden.

    49:41
Ivan Rachunek tries to go top corner but hits Gustafsson in the shoulder and the puck goes out of play. Faceoff inside.

    48:45
A physical shift for the Czechs with Jakub Nakladal throwing his weight around. They're not generating any offence, though, as the Swedes are really locking it down right now.

    47:48
Sweden back at full strength, as they kill off that penalty without the Czechs getting any shots on goal, though they had some good possession around the perimeter for a while. A couple of shot attempts blocked.

    46:35
Offside Czech Republic on the shoot-in. 1:23 left in the power play.

    45:35
3rd period getting physical, first a hit by Rahimi in the corner that wasn't called but now Fredrik Pettersson is going to the box for highsticking. Czechs to the power play once again looking to tie.

    44:00
Big hipcheck into the boards by Elias Falth on Petr Hubacek, as the latter tried to beat him to the outside. Falth seems to be one of Sweden's more physical defencemen.

    41:19
Nicklas Danielsson with the shot, Salak stops and holds on. Sweden coming out aggressively to start this period.

    40:49
Right off the faceoff, Elias Falth hits the goalpost and the puck deflects out of play. Faceoff outside.
