The Russian power play wastes little time to cash in and take a stranglehold of this game. Ilya Kovalchuk slides it across to ALEXANDER RADULOV, who makes this a 2-goal game. Assist: Ilya Kovalchuk.
There was an extended scramble in the US crease but Bishop, who's been brilliant, was not able to cover it and finally it was YEVGENI MEDVEDEV who slid the puck under the mess and in. Assists: Sergei Mozyakin, Alexei Tereshenko.
Shots on goal in 2nd period (and game): Russia 9 (18), USA 8 (16).
3rd period begins at 20:53 CEST, 14:53 EST.
It seemed to be just a matter of time before the Russians tied it. On another dangerous rush, Petrov dropped to Radulov, who found ALEXEI TERESHENKO at the side of the net for the tap in. What a beautiful goal. Assists: Kirill Petrov, Alexander Radulov.
The power play chances at least gave the US some momentum and now they've re-taken the lead. MATT HUNWICK blasts a one-timer from the point that hits a Russian stick and beats Bryzgalov up high under the bar. Assist: Aaron Palushaj (with a lovely set-up pass).
The shots were only 9-8 for Russia overall, but many of them were great chances and both goalies had to come up big more than once.
2nd period begins at 20:05 CEST, 14:05 EDT.
Goals coming fast and furious in this first period. Just 36 seconds after the US took the lead, the Russians tie it back up. ILYA KOVALCHUK crosses the blueline and rips a high shot that beats Bishop. That's 5 in the tournament already for Kovy. Assists: Ilya Nikulin, Alexander Radulov
The power play didn't go too well, but they get one just after it ends. PAUL STASTNY is having quite a game, and scores his 2nd with a shot from the top of the circle that finds room under Bryzgalov's glove. Assist: Justin Faulk
After some sustained pressure, the Americans manage to tie the game. PAUL STASTNY, who's had a few good chances so far, manage to push this one across the line from the near post. Assist: Craig Smith
The Americans were unable to clear the zone and ANTON BELOV's long shot hits an American stick and beat Bishop high to the glove side. Assists: Denis Denisov, Artyom Anisimov.
The national anthems of both countries will be played soon, followed by the opening faceoff.

Medved's total leads all tournament defenceman, followed by the USA's Erik Johnson with 3. Tim Stapleton and Paul Stastny both also have 3 points for the Americans.
Ilya Bryzgalov and Semyon Varlamov have each started once for Russia--Bryzgalov opened the tournament with a 15-save shutout vs Latvia and is expected to start this one. For the Americans, Ben Bishop has played both games, stopping 37 of 41 in total, and will probably make a third straight start.
