After the Germans won a faceoff at the right circle Philip Gogulla skated behind the net and gave a brilliant back hand pass to CHRISTOPH ULLMANN whose one-timer from within the slot found its way into the back of the net! The lucky but not undeserved lead for Germany!

Germany had mixed results in this tournament when they faced Finland (3-4 OT), Russia (1-4), Slovakia (2-3) and Austria (2-0). On the other side Latvia had a terrible start against Russia (0-6), USA (1-4) and Austria (3-6) before before finally getting their first three points in the match against Slovakia (5-3).
Germany played the last time in this tournament on Wednesday while Latvia played on Thursday so that both teams should be in excellent physical conditions.
