After a fast combination on the right wing PAUL STASTNY received the puck close to the right post and fired it into the left corner! What a historic humiliation for the Russians!

After winning the face off on the left circle the Americans played it very fast and JACOB TROUBA scored by deflecting a one-timer from within the slot! 6-3 in power play!

Incredible mistake by Alexander Radulov who lost the puck in the neutral zone and then RYAN CARTER had a break away and scored into the right corner past the chanceless Varlamov to make it 5-2 shorthanded! Once more an American goal was a huge gift by the Russians!
The previous opportunity by ALEXANDER OVECHKIN was under video review and after looking at it the officials had to give a good goal as the puck didn't hit the crossbar but the back of the net! We have a hockey game again!

Paul Stastny with a pass from the blue line to Craig Smith who gave a perfect pass towards the goal crease and ALEX GALCHENYUK went on to deke out Bryzgalov from short distance and to score into the right bottom corner for the 4-1 lead for the USA!!!

Fast 2-on-3 counter by the Americans over Ryan Carter on the middle lane who gives a brilliant cross-pass to the left towards NATE THOMPSON and the forward just needed to hold his stick into the pass to score from just in front of the goalie crease after escaping from his guard! A huge setback for the Russians!

The favourites from Russia give a fast reaction and cut the American lead to the half! Sergei soin had a nice solo over the right wing and from within the right circle he gave a perfect cross-pass towards the left post from where ALEXANDER SVITOV had little trouble to get the puck past Gibson with a one-timer!

The Americans use their new self-confidence to score a double! Tim Stapleton with a nice pass just past the blue line after coming from inside the neutral zone and TJ OSHIE skates towards the right circle from where he fired the puck past the surprised Bryzgalov for the 2-0! The Russians look shocked!

A beautiful play gives the USA the early lead in this match! Craig Smith won the puck behind the Russian net, turned around and gave a perfect back hand pass towards the goalie crease from where PAUL STASTNY scored without problems into the wide open net.
