		Avangard Omsk showed a very convincing performance today and earned a deserved 5-1 win against Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod which in the end may be one or two goals too high but they worked hard for this success! For Avangard its their second win in a row after a month long negative streak and their fans are celebrating them enthusiastically. With now 15 points Avangard were able to cut the deficit towards the playoff spots to four points! Shots on goal: Avangard 8 (34) – Torpedo 8 (22)

		Avangard were the dominant team in the middle period after a nervous begin and around "half time" of the game they were able to turn the result around completley within just one minute. 		The game in Omsk started a bit slow with two cautious teams but after Torpedo scored the 1-0 with the first power play opportunity of the match, the hosts invested more and tried to find back into the match. Nikita Pivtsakin skated from the right circle towards the net and his precise cross-pass came to Andrei Ivanov whose shot from short distance was blocked by guest goalie Gelashvili in the last moment!

		Avangard Omsk, one of the top teams of the Kontinental Hockey League in the first five years of its existence, is having a horrible start into the 2013-14 season. Despite changing their head coach already, they are currently 12th in Eastern Conference with only 12 points in 14 games. In their last game on Thursday Avangard were finally able to end a nine game losing streak by defeating Vityaz Podolsk (3-1) at home. Today's opponents, Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, who joined Eastern Conference this summer due to further KHL expansion after several years in the West, are currently 6th in the East with 23 points in 14 games. In their last six games Torpedo showed few constant performances and a win was followed always by a loss in the next game. In their last match on Thursday they lost on the road against Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk (3-4). If Avangard can improve their record a bit or if Torpedo get the road win, we'll see soon.
