In their last game on Thursday Avangard were finally able to end a nine game losing streak by defeating Vityaz Podolsk (3-1) at home.
Today's opponents, Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, who joined Eastern Conference this summer due to further KHL expansion after several years in the West, are currently 6th in the East with 23 points in 14 games.
In their last six games Torpedo showed few constant performances and a win was followed always by a loss in the next game. In their last match on Thursday they lost on the road against Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk (3-4).
If Avangard can improve their record a bit or if Torpedo get the road win, we'll see soon.
