Friday 22.11.2013, 14:00KHL

Lev Praha has now won 5 of their last six games, thanks to a hat trick from their captain Jiří Novotný. Petri Vehanen was also very strong in goal, stopping 28 of 29 shots, including some very nice saves in the third period.

Jakub Kovar stopped 29 of 31 in goal for Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg, but he couldn't stop this losing slide they are on, which is now up to 5 games. Coincidentally, the streak began in Prague nine days ago, a game they entered with a 7-game winning streak in tact. (17:55:39)

Avto had some good possession in the Lev zone during the delay but didn't land any shots on goal, and Lev has to be pleased with killing a minute off the clock at this juncture. You have to say, down by 2 goals, Avto absolutely must score on this power play.

When the two teams met at Tipsport Arena last Wednesday, they were returning to action after a week-long international break. Avtomobilist entered the game on a seven-game winning streak and had climbed into 6th place in the Eastern Conference. Lev got goals from Ryan O´Byrne and Jakub Klepiš and led 2-1 until late in the third period, when Sergei Demegin scored his second of the game to send it to overtime. In overtime, Lev went to the power play and won the game when Martin Ševc fired a bullet from the point off the post and in.

The game began a home stand where Lev claimed 8 of 12 possible points to climb from 8th to 5th place in the tightly-contested Western Conference. As for Avtomobilist, the loss ignited a string of four straight losses -- the overtime point in Prague was the only one they gained on their four-game road trip -- which has seen them fall back down to 9th in their conference. Now back home, they will surely try to get back to their winning ways.

Fyodor Malykhin and Anton Lazarev continue to be the team´s best one-two punch. Lazarev loads the gun -- he has a team-leading 15 assists -- and Malykhin pulls the trigger -- 11 goals. As Lev fans learned last Wednesday, Demagin is dangerous too -- he now has 5 goals in nine games since joining the club. The defence continues to be led by ex-Lion Sami Lepistö with 13 points. Jakub Kovář stopped 29 of 32 shots in his home country against Lev and will probably get the start in goal for Avtomobilist again on Friday.

Kovář was a lot busier than Petri Vehanen in the teams´ first meeting, but the Finnish netminder was called upon to make some big saves, as he has been all season, and will probably get the start on Friday.

He was the team´s overall scoring leader last year and Klepiš led the team in the first half of this season with 14 points in 27 games. He´s followed closely by Ševc and Jiří Sekáč, who was shut out against Avtomobilist but has scored in each of the team´s three games since, including a huge tying goal late in Tuesday´s game against Barys Astana.

"I try to play my best, but it´s also a reflection of how strong our line is," Sekáč said, deflecting the credit away from himself in typical fashion. "We get a lot of chances and from that come the points."

Indeed, playing with Swedes Martin Thörnberg and Patrik Zackrisson, who have 11 and 10 points, respectively, the trio have been Lev´s hottest line lately.

Welcome. This game starts at 19:00 YEKT local time in Yekaterinburg, 14:00 CET in Prague, 08:00 EST.
