Jakub Kovar stopped 29 of 31 in goal for Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg, but he couldn't stop this losing slide they are on, which is now up to 5 games. Coincidentally, the streak began in Prague nine days ago, a game they entered with a 7-game winning streak in tact. (17:55:39)
JIRI NOVOTNY shoots the puck from just across centre and gets his 3rd goal of the game into an empty net, restoring Lev's 2-goal lead.
Just seconds earlier they had hit the goal post, but from the ensuing scramble the puck wehnt back to the point and SAMI LEPISTO fired it through a crowd and Vehanen never saw it. Power-play goal. Assist: Artyom Chernov.
Starting the period on the power play, they've had Avto back on their heels almost constantly and finally they cash in, even though the power play was over. The puck is fed in front to JIRI NOVOTNY, who snaps it low stick-side on Kovar.
Shots on goal in the 2nd period (and game): Avtomobilist 6 (16), Lev 14 (24).
Faceoffs: Avtomobilist 16/36 (Malykhin 5/7), Lev 20/36 (Zackrisson 8/10).
Icetime leaders: Avtomobilist – Lepisto 13:05, Lev – Sevc 12:46.
3rd period begins at 15:42 CET, 09:42 EST.
Shots on goal in the first period: Avtomobilist 10, Lev 10.
Faceoffs: Avtomobilist 10/18 (Yemeleyev 5/7), Lev 8/18 (Azevedo 3/4).
Icetime leaders: Avtomobilist – Simakov 6:27, Lev – Nemec 7:00.
2nd period begins at 14:50 CET, 08:50 EST.
Jakub Kovar goes on a bit of an adventure behind the net and loses the puck to Justin Azevedo, who feeds it in front to JIRI NOVOTNY. Kovar tried to get back in but not in time to stop the shot. Assist: Justin Azevedo.
Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg is wearing their home red uniforms with black and white trim, red pants and helmets. Lev Praha is wearing their white road uniforms with blue and red trim, red NY Rangers-style pants and white helmets.

The game began a home stand where Lev claimed 8 of 12 possible points to climb from 8th to 5th place in the tightly-contested Western Conference. As for Avtomobilist, the loss ignited a string of four straight losses -- the overtime point in Prague was the only one they gained on their four-game road trip -- which has seen them fall back down to 9th in their conference. Now back home, they will surely try to get back to their winning ways.
Fyodor Malykhin and Anton Lazarev continue to be the team´s best one-two punch. Lazarev loads the gun -- he has a team-leading 15 assists -- and Malykhin pulls the trigger -- 11 goals. As Lev fans learned last Wednesday, Demagin is dangerous too -- he now has 5 goals in nine games since joining the club. The defence continues to be led by ex-Lion Sami Lepistö with 13 points. Jakub Kovář stopped 29 of 32 shots in his home country against Lev and will probably get the start in goal for Avtomobilist again on Friday.
Kovář was a lot busier than Petri Vehanen in the teams´ first meeting, but the Finnish netminder was called upon to make some big saves, as he has been all season, and will probably get the start on Friday.
He was the team´s overall scoring leader last year and Klepiš led the team in the first half of this season with 14 points in 27 games. He´s followed closely by Ševc and Jiří Sekáč, who was shut out against Avtomobilist but has scored in each of the team´s three games since, including a huge tying goal late in Tuesday´s game against Barys Astana.
"I try to play my best, but it´s also a reflection of how strong our line is," Sekáč said, deflecting the credit away from himself in typical fashion. "We get a lot of chances and from that come the points."
Indeed, playing with Swedes Martin Thörnberg and Patrik Zackrisson, who have 11 and 10 points, respectively, the trio have been Lev´s hottest line lately.
