With a 3-0 series lead, Lev have this series firmly in their grasp, but Medvescak surely would at least like to get a playoff win in front of their home fans tomorrow. (21:57:57)
PETR VRANA steals the puck and fires it off the far post and in. Lev have this game and a death-grip on the series now.
Unassisted, power-play goal.
Lev hadn't got much going on the power play, but near the end sent a shot from the point and it's deflected by MARTIN THORNBERG in front and in. It's not a power-play goal, as the penalty had ended 2 seconds earlier.
Assists: Mikko Maenpaa, Nathan Oystrick.
On a relatively harmless-looking rush, DAVID ULLSTROM crossed the Medvescak blueline 1-on-4 and ripped a high wrister that hit Brust's arm and went inside the post. It looks like he might have been screened on it.
Game 1 was also tied 2-2 after 2, while game 2 was 2-1 Medvescak after 2. Lev won both games.
Shots on goal in the 2nd period (and game): Medvescak 15 (31), Lev 16 (26).
Quality scoring chances: Medvescak 3 (6), Lev 5 (9).
3rd period begins at 21:20 CET, 15:20 EST.
What a move by SASHA MARTINOVIC, forcing Vehanen to commit to the shot, then moving to his left and going up and over the goalie. Tied game.
Ivan Svarny shot the puck from the point and it's deflected in front by KANE BOYD as he's being taken down and past Vehanen to get Medvescak on the board.
Assist: Ivan Svarny.
It is indeed a goal. MICHAL REPIK with the good hand-eye coordination after a Medvescak player failed in an attempt to bat it out of the air.
Unassisted.
Lev with the shorthanded rush. MARTIN THORNBERG stopped on his first attempt, but Medvescak were unable to regain possession and Patrick Zackrisson found Thornberg again. He beats Brust high glove side with a wrister from the faceoff dot for a shorthanded goal.
Assist: Patrik Zackrisson.
Shots on goal in the 1st period: Medvescak 16, Lev 10.
Quality scoring chances: Medvescak 3, Lev 4.
2nd period begins at 20:21 CET, 14:21 EST.
It looks like Medvescak's Matt Ellison was injured on the play blocking a shot in the ankle area, so we'll see if he returns.
Medvescak Zagreb is wearing their home navy blue uniforms with white trim, navy blue pants and helmets. Lev Praha is wearing their road white uniforms with blue and red trim, red NY Rangers-style pants and white helmets.
It's a packed house here in Zagreb for the first-ever KHL playoff game in Croatia, and game three is set to begin.

Obviously, a 2-0 series lead is the best Lev could have hoped for from the opening two games. This outcome is especially favourable when you consider that they were tied entering the third period in game one, and trailing 2-1 in game two, yet won both. Of course, everybody knew it wouldn´t be an easy series.
"We hoped to win the first two games, yeah, even though we knew it would be tough," said captain Jiří Novotný. "Now we go to Zagreb, where we will have a harder time because Medveščak play well at home and have great fans. For us, it´s a change to a smaller rink, but we have to deal with it."
Indeed, Medveščak was strong on home ice this season, but Lev was strong on the road, too. The Bears had the eight-best home record in the KHL with 53 points in 27 games this season -- tied with Lev, incidentally. On the road, they ranked 11th with 39 points, while Lev was the league´s fifth-best road team with 46 points. Lev also won in their lone visit to Zagreb during the regular season, 3-1 back on September 10. While they know it won´t come easy, the shift in venue might not be as intimidating as it first appears.
"We often played better on the road than at home," said Novotný. "We always try to force our opponents to play our style, not the other way around, so that´s what we have to do now."
Whatever style they play, Medveščak will now try to equal what Lev accomplished in the first two games by winning their two at home. Said Jonathan Cheechoo: "Nothing has been lost because now they´re coming into our house. We´ve gotta do a good job and return to Prague and steal a game there."
Those sentiments were echoed by head coach Mark French, who said: "The series is never lost until you lose on home ice. We can still tie the series."
One decision French will have to make for game three is who to start in goal. Both Mark Dekanich and Barry Brust surrendered 4 goals against in losing causes on 28 and 32 shots, respectively. Despite distinctive styles, both put in strong efforts, but not strong enough to get a win.
"They´re both great goalies -- I´ve played against both of them in North America," said Lev defenceman Nathan Oystrick. "Dekanich tries to stay in his net and Brust comes out to play the puck more. We knew we had to keep the puck away from him because he can make a breakout pass as well as any defenceman."
Petri Vehanen has played both games for Lev and won twice. The only thing that might put him on the bench is the rigorous schedule of four games in five nights. Head coach Kari Jalonen indicated before the series that Atte Engren might see some action for that reason.
Through the first two games, Medveščak has been led by the line of Charles Linglet, Ryan Vesce and Matt Ellison. Linglet is the leading scorer with 3 points -- all assists -- while Ellison is the only player on the team to score twice. Lev has three players with 3 points -- Justin Azevedo and Martin Thörnberg each have 2 goals and 1 assist, while Jiří Sekáč has 3 assists.
Not surprisingly, the first two games have been marked by their physical play, and that should only continue in Zagreb. Said Oystrick: "It´s going to be like that in Zagreb too. It´s a smaller rink and players will be coming hard. They´re going to be talking and we´re going to be talking and there´s going to be scrums after every whistle again."
