    Metallurg Magnitogorsk are the only team to advance with a sweep in their best-of-seven series to the Eastern Conference finals where they will face the winner of the series between Salavat Yulayev Ufa and Barys Astana.

    Although Metallurg won all four games, it was a close series! Metallurg never won with more than a one-goal advantage and twice games went into overtime. In the end the 4-0 wins (3-2 OT, 3-2, 2-1 OT, 3-2) stand and give Metallurg a few more days of recreation before the next playoff round!

    The Sibir fans can be proud of their team aswell who not only threw out Ak Bars Kazan in the first round but also gave Metallurg Magnitogorsk, the leaders of Eastern Conference in the regular season, a hard fight in every game!

    The Eastern Conference semifinals between favourites Metallurg Magnitogorsk and outsiders Sibir Novosibirsk could be decided already this afternoon despite all three games that were played so far being very evenly balanced and ending with just a one-goal difference.

    After winning both their home games last Friday and Saturday, Metallurg went on to defeat Sibir on the road yesterday afternoon with a 2-1 OT win where Yaroslav Khabarov and Denis Platonov turned around the first-period lead by Ivan Lekomtsev in favour of Sibir.

    If Metallurg get the sweep and advance to the Conference finals or if Sibir force game #5 in Magnitogorsk, we'll see soon!
