Finland has previously won 3 gold medals at the Inline Hockey World Championships and Canada 2, but this is the first time that these two teams have faced each other in the Final.
Finland is the only unbeaten team left in the tournament, having won all three games in Group B, then beating Great Britain 7-2 in the quarterfinals and Sweden 4-2 in the semifinals.
Canada went 1-2 in Group A to finish 3rd, then got two shootout victories to secure their spot in the final -- 5-4 over the host Czech Republic in the quarterfinals and 6-5 over previously undefeated USA in the semifinals.
