The home team played its last pre-season game last Friday. JYP lost to Tappara Tampere 3-2 in a shootout. JYP has had sufficient time to be prepared for the start of the CHL.
The visiting team arrived in Jyväskylä on Wednesday. Red Bull Salzburg had their first practice in Jyväskylä on Thursday. They've had enough time to recover for the first game.
Both teams look pretty strong and it's hard to say which one is the favourite. It looks like we will have a really interesting and tight game on Friday evening.
JYP's brightest stars are Eric Perrin and Mikko Mäenpää. Perrin has been JYP's captain for three consecutive years and is one of the team's top scorers. Mäenpää came back to JYP this season after three years in the KHL. He is also a regular face on Finland's national team.
Red Bull Salzburg brings an interesting group of players to Jyväskylä. Thomas Raffl and Matthias Trattnig have totaled a great number of points in the Austrian League. Also there are some interesting names for the Finnish audience, such as Ben Walter and Bernd Brückler, who have earlier played in Finland.
