Lukáš Peroutka
That´s it for now. My name is Lukas Peroutka, have a good night! (22:30:32)
Meanwhile, SønderjyskE´s dramatic victory in Krefeld still resonates.
Lakers hold on to their lead and move to the joint top position in Group G with Sparta Prague on 9 points. KalPa remains third with 7 points.
Frölunda score two late goals in final minutes of the game through Oscar Fantenberg and Andreas Johnsson (again, for 4th time tonight). Bit harsh on Briancon.
Indians are tied on top of Group C on 12 points with Servette. By the way, this is Johnsson´s 7th goal and 16th point. Incredible efficiency by the young Swede.
IFK´s misery is completed when Anton Lindholm´s pass is diverted into his own net by Teemu Ramstedt. Skellefteå remains perfect in CHL, winning also their fifth game and sealing victory in Group J.
Increasing pressure by the home team eventually leads to a fourth goal and a hat-trick by Andreas Johnsson. The young forward takes advantage of another great pass by Mathis Olimb and buries his shot under the crossbar. Briancon finds a quick reply through Marc-Andre Bernier, though, and keeps a respectable scoreline with six minutes to go.
KalPa finally gets on the scoresheet after Tomas Kubalik rifles a shot into the net. Nine minutes left in Sweden. Group G is fairly even so any point might be important.
Does that count as a surprise? Yes, it does. But SønderjyskE has already proven they are a strong and resilient team and now they get their first ever CHL win. The Danish club scored three goals in the last period and beats Krefeld who remain pointless at the bottom of Group J.
Wow, what a comeback! SønderjyskE turn the game at Krefeld on its head and now find themselves in the lead! Tyler Gotto scores the equalizer on a powerplay and with five minutes left to play, Kim Lykkeskov gives his team an unexpected lead with a rebound.
There is not much at stake in terms of playoffs here at Krefeld, but both sides battle for their first CHL win. Norman Hauner´s powerplay effort put Penguins into a two-goal lead, but a quick response by Mats Lund means Vojens are back in touch.
Looks like the Swedish champion is determined to maintain a 100% record even after tonight. Daniel Widing´s second of the game 94 seconds before second intermission puts Skellefteå in a good position ahead of the last period.
Midway through the game, Ian McDonald was tripped on a breakaway and converted the resulting penalty shot, cutting Frölunda´s lead in half. But late in the second period, the Swedish scoring power is again apparent as Andreas Johnsson converts a powerplay for a 3-1 goal.
Daniel Widing fires a one-timer into the net and Skellefteå have the lead in the clash of top teams of Group J. A home victory would seal the top place for the Swedish powerhouse. Still 30 minutes to play there, though.
Lakers increase their lead on a powerplay thanks to Nick Johnson´s rebound. A victory for the Swedish outfit would lift them to joint first place in Group G.
And midway through the game, Krefeld has a 2-1 lead over SønderjyskE.
Frölunda increases their lead late in the first period when two of the best scorers of CHL combine and Andreas Johnsson scores after a nice combination play. Still, a sympathetic performance by Briancon.
Swedish side takes the expected lead against French champions thanks to Cramo Top Scorer Mathis Olimb and his rebound from close range. A win for Frölunda will tie them with Geneve on top of Group C.
Well, well, well. A boy from Kuopio, Tuomas Kiiskinen, scores his first CHL goal for Växjö Lakers and guess against which team. KalPa suddenly finds itself a goal down early in the game.
Linköping took a total control of the shootout, scoring twice thanks to Little and Miklifier while none of four Turku shooters was able to beat goalie Högberg. Thus, Linköping seals victory in Group F and a place in the playoffs.
Adam Masuhr wins the game for Kärpät in the last minute of overtime with a hard shot from the blue line. Six seconds on the clock when that goal went in. That means Kärpät stays top of Group A with 10 points, Liberec is second with 9, Köln has 7 and Kosice 4.
Kärpät plays Liberec at home on the final game day in a direct duel for a playoff berth.
Lots of drama early on in Krefeld. Danish champions have the puck in the net first, but the effort is ruled out and shortly afterwards, Adam Courchaine scores a brace at the other end. However, Kim Lykkeskov quickly pulls one back for the visitors.
The other game in Finland between TPS and Linköping is still tied 3-3 with seven minutes to go in the third.
Liberec held on to their narrow lead and wins the game by a single goal. That means they now have 9 points and move all the way to the top of Group A. But for how long? Oulu and Kosice are still tied 2-2 with a minute to go in the third.
This is turning into a big drama. 17 seconds into the period, Mattias Sjögren puts visitors ahead, but Ilkka Pikkarainen equalizes just two minutes later with a quick shot after the faceoff.
Ahead of final period in our three early games, Group A with Kärpät, Köln, Liberec and Kosice offers many permutations. Kärpät victory will keep them top of the group while the winner of the game in Liberec will stay in the battle for top spot in the final round. But remember the game in Oulu is still tied and Kosice are not to be beaten easily.
Linköping will seal victory and playoff berth if they avoid defeat at Turku. That game is now 2-2. TPS is four points behind their Swedish opponents with a rematch of these two sides in Sweden coming up on final game day.
It is still a close game at Liberec. After Bulik gave the Czech side a 2-0 lead midway through the game, Alexander Sulzer pulled one back seven minutes before the intermission.
Looks like both Finnish team have decided to play with the same score today. Linköping levels thanks to Jacob Mickflier who takes advantage of a lucky bounce in front of the net. Drama on the cards here.
Kosice´s lead did not last long. Julius Junttila equalizes for Kärpät and the game is tied again midway through the second period.
TPS takes the lead again through Tadas Kumeliauskas. The 23-year old forward is one of two Lithuanian players in the competition and enters his second season with the team from Turku. His wristshot is too good for Linköping´s goalie.
Is that a surprise in the making? Kosice score after 28 minutes of play and take the lead, Michal Seda is the scorer in his first Champions Hockey League game ever.
Slovak side battles back to the equalizer in Finland in the final minute of the opening period. Peter Sojcik steals the puck, moves on goal and finishes well.
Sebastian Karlsson takes advantage of a long powerplay for the Swedish side and his hard shot flies all the way into the net. We have a tied game in Finland.
Now all home teams are in the lead after Petr Jelinek battles for space on the edge of the goal crease before scoring a close-range rebound. A win tonight would keep chances of Liberec for the playoff round well alive.
Further south in Finland, fans in Turku celebrate, too. Mikko Rantanen moves in front of the net, rounds the goalie and scores right under the crossbar. Video review confirms a good goal. Remember, TPS has to win to keep the race for first spot in the group open.
Now that´s a quick start! Cramo Top Scorer Joonas Donskoi puts the Finnish champions ahead with a quick breakaway just 14 seconds into the game.
There is another promotion direct duel on schedule tonight and that is in Group J. Reigning Swedish champion Skellefteå still boasts 100% record in the competition, but IFK Helsinki is just a point behind. These two powerhouses will battle it out for victory and playoffs throughout final two game days.
Third game starting today at 17:30 CET is TPS Turku – Linköping HC. The visitors currently hold a 4-point lead over TPS on top of Group F, so if they avoid defeat in Finland, they will seal first place in the group and a playoff berth.
Games between Finnish and Swedish teams have never lacked passion, and this one most certainly won't either as Linköping and TPS decide who's going to win their group.
At 17:30 CET, both games of Group A get underway. Kärpät Oulu will be looking to take huge step towards playoffs in a home clash against Slovak side HC Košice. Meanwhile in the Czech Republic, Liberec hosts Kölner Haie in another important matchup.
The Tigers and the Sharks met earlier this summer as part of their CHL campaigns, in Cologne. Powered by former Haie forward Martin Bartek and also by Vampola who won World Championship gold medal in the German city four years ago, the visiting team was able to steal three points, winning the game by the final score of 4-1. And it was Vampola who recorded the game-winning goal.
There are two Swedish teams that can do it today – Linköpings and Skellefteå. The game day coverage starts at 14:00 and you are welcome to join us!
