		CSKA finished in first place of the overall KHL regular season, with SKA backing them up in second.
		The opening match of this series was held on Thursday, with CSKA ruthlessly punishing SKA for missed opportunities winning 3:0. Indeed the Muscovites have lost only one game in these playoffs so far, against Jokerit in a 4:1 series victory, and they whitewashed HC Sochi in the first round 4:0. SKA have been equally as impressive so far, beating HC Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod and HC Dynamo Moscow both by a score of 4:1.
