Thank you for following this live report. My name is Efraim Larsson and I'll be back next Friday when Frölunda will face JYP Jyväskylä on home ice. (21:24:36)

Time to summarize the game, then. I think that Sheffield were really good in the first period and really chocked Frölunda, I think. But as longer as the game went, Frölunda got better and better and in the third period they totatlly dominated.

    Game over.

    40:01
    Start of 3rd period.

We're back around 20:45 (CET) for the 3rd period.

As mentioned just earlier, Frölunda was the better team in this period. They managed to get long attacks in the end zone and got to get them more often as longer as the period was played.

Steelers did defend their slot in front of Plante rather solid, though, whereby Frölunda pretty much just played along the boards and blue line. Didn't get that many really hot scoring chances, but when they did Plante was there to save the Steelers.

    Goals of the 2nd period:
    2-0 (25:19) | Mats Rosseli Olsen (Unassisted) SH1

    Shots: 17-4 (total: 25-10)
    PIM: 4-4 (total: 8-12)

We're into the last minute of the second period.

    37:59
With two minutes left of the 2nd period we get a new faceoff in Steelers defensive zone. We've mostly been playing down there in this period, but Steelers defend their slot really well and when Frölunda gets their scoring chances Plante is solid in the net.

    36:55
Steelers stand against Frölunda's PP this time as well and are now back on full strength.

Frölunda are 20,00% (1/5) on the Powerplay yet today.

    34:55
Sheffield Steelers gets a new penalty, and for the third time in the game Zach Fitzgerald goes to the box. 2 minutes for Slashing.

    32:38
The Steelers can't take advantage of the powerplay and Frölunda are now back with full strength.

    31:10
This is definitely a great chance for the Steelers to get back in the game.

    30:38
It all ends with a 2 minutes penalty on Frölundas Anton Karlsson for Boarding.

    30:38
A little misunderstanding occurs on the ice. Frölunda's Anton Karlsson delievers a tough hit on a Steelers player, whereby Zack Fitzgerald jumps in to defend his teammate and a big scrum occurs between a lot of players on the ice right now. Busy times for the referees.

    29:40
Frölunda creates more and more long attacks and Steelers seems to be a little tired. Hope that they can turn the latest minutes pressure in defensive zone over a bit.

    27:26
Frölunda gets a really long attack, but Steelers defend the box really well.
After a while Frölunda gets a really great opportunity, but Janmark can't beat Plante – who makes a really good save.

One and a half minute into the 2nd period, Steelers Fredrik Vestberg goes to the penalty box for 2 minutes, Hooking.

    21:02
Right after a faceoff in Frölundas zone, Steelers d-man Cullen Eddy just whips it on goal and it became dangerous. But no goal.

    20:27
Frölunda creates a little scoring chance early in the period and goes hard on Plante in the goal, something the Steelers don't like and there's a little scrum.

    20:01
    Start of 2nd period.

Both teams have entered the ice for the 2nd period.

Sheffield started the game very well, pushing down Frölunda extremely well and succesful with energy and speed which got them creating a couple of scoring chances. But the feeling is that Frölunda grew into the period and created more in the offensive zone.

The first period ended 1-0 to Frölunda.
1-0 (17.10) | Henrik Tömmernes (Spencer Abbott, Andreas Johnson) PP1

    Shots: 8-6
    PIM: 4-8

We'll be back around 19:50 (CET) with the 2nd period. Enjoy your coffee.

    20:00
    1st period finished.

Assisted by: Spencer Abbott & Andreas Johnson.

    16:45
Steelers defend the defensive zone well in the first half of the penalty and Frölunda can't seem to setup the PP – something that frustrates head coach Roger Rönnberg och the bench.

    15:44
Another Puck Out-penalty for Steelers, and again it's Zack Fitzgerald. 2 minutes.

    14:28

Steelers Colton Fretter gets a hard hit by Frölunda's Christoffer Persson and Steelers want a penalty, but no call.
Instead Steelers creates another two scoring chances, but again Johansson is solid.

    11:56
Sheffield can't arrange a powerplay setup and Frölunda now at full strength.

    11:07
Sheffield Steelers at full strength and now have a 5 on 4 powerplay for 49 seconds.

    00:15
Just 15 seconds into the game we get our first whistle. A Frölunda player crashes into the Steelers cage and we're getting a short break when the ice crew needs to fix the cage.

    And the game has started!

    00:01
    Game started.

    And we're ready for faceoff.

Wow, the game isn't started yet but we're having an unbelievable great atmosphere in here. This is gonna be a great game, for sure.

But wait for it. Now the Steelers enter, and the road team crowd really lets the rest of the arena know that the Steelers fans are there.

It's a great atmosphere in Frölundaborg when the Frölunda players enter the ice.

The goalie of Frölunda HC tonight – Lars Johansson – usually wears No 1 in Frölunda. Tonight? No 50.
The reason is rather funny – they ordered a jersey that were too small.

Just a couple of seconds later, the Steelers enters the ice in front of their – already – enthusiastic fans.

Frölunda hits the ice in Frölundaborg for warmup.

A fun notation for today is that Steelers expects to have about 4-500 fans in the crowds today. That's a rather good amount of supporters to travel from England to Sweden. Let's hope it's true!

Sheffield Steelers makes their first appearence in the CHL after finishing 2nd in the Elite Ice Hockey League's regular season earlier this year.

The Steelers is a club founded in 1991 in the central of England, and they have been a part of the Brittish hockey top since.
9 times, that's how many times the Steelers have won the playoffs of EIHL and last season they were not far away from increasing that number to 10, but the Coventry Blaze were too good in the Final series and denied Steelers to win their 2nd consecutive title.

Now they're here in the CHL to give Frölunda and JYP Jyväskylä a battle.

Frölunda Gothenburg made it all the way to the final in the 2014/15 edition of Champions Hockey League. In the Gold Medal Game they got a splendid start and scored 1-0 just 9 seconds in the game to quiet the audience in Coop Norrbotten Arena in Luleå. But despite the start and nor a 2-0 lead going into the third period, Frölunda somehow managed to give away the momentum and lost the game 2-4.

In the Swedish Hockey League they finished the regular season on 2nd place and took revenge on Luleå for the CHL Final loss by turning over a 1-3 deficit in games to 4-3 after three straight wins in the Quarter Final series. In the Semi Final, Växjö Lakers stood in the way and knocked out Frölunda in 6 games.

Now Frölunda are back for a CHL revenge and much is telling us that this is a team to count on yet again.
This year they will play their home games in Frölundaborg instead of their regular home ice arena, Scandinavium (12'044).
They played their quarter- and semi final games in "Borgen" last year due to the very big crowd standings in Scandinavium.

    Welcome. Game starts at 19:00.
