Referees: Hejduk (CZE), Schukies – Seeßle, Berger (All GER).

The Krefeld Penguins are anxious to meet Kärpät Oulu, which is quite a contrast to last season's attitude when some players asked for the sense of participating in the CHL competition. Coach Rick Adduono told the press about the differences between this year's team and the previous one: less talent, but more speed and work ethic; "We have 25 players with a very good attitude and we have good leadership."
Team captain and international Daniel Pietta and Krefeld's Hungarian top scorer Istvan Sofron will try to make the Penguins do what they forgot to do last year: score. Although playing really well in their first two (home) games they wasted their chances and ended up empty-handed. If that can be changed the youngsters from Krefeld may stand a chance against the very experienced and considerably older team from Finland, which reached the CHL semi-finals last time.
In the German DEL last year's Penguins only made it into the first play-off round, and the hungry younger team that they are this season will surely try to do better than that – why should they not begin doing so against Kärpät? Apart from defender Robin Weihager the players are fit and the spectators should see an interesting match.

    Welcome. Game starts at 19:30.

    Daniel Ježek
