Krefeld Pinguine
Thursday 27.08.2015, 17:30 • Oulun Energia-Areena • Champions League • Group 10

    Welcome. Game starts at 17:30.

Welcome to this CHL Group J match between Kärpät Oulu and Krefeld Pinguine. So far Kärpät have been dominant in the group, leading the group by 6 points after two matches. Kärpät won both Krefeld and Vienna Capitals on the road 0-2, Meaning, that they are yet to concede a goal in this tournament. Kärpät goaltender Sami Aittokallio has played two perfect games with two clean sheets from last week's games against Krefeld and Vienna Capitals. This is also the home opener for Kärpät since Liiga (Finnish Elite League) hasn't started yet and Kärpät played all their pre-season games on the road.

Krefeld has played only once in this years CHL and that was against Kärpät last Thursday. Between Kärpät games they played a pre-season match against EV Duisburg winning the game 3 to 1. Duisburg may not be on the same level as Kärpät, but a solid victory will definitely boost the confidence of the travelling Pinguine. Daniel Pietta and defenceman Nick St. Pierre possess the skills to cause havoc in the solid Kärpät defence. Thomas Duba and Krefeld defencemen have to be on their best form today against the Finnish champions. Mika Niemi, Ivan Huml and young super-prospect Jesse Puljujärvi from Kärpät have played extremely well so far.

Sebastian Aho (KÄR), who assisted Niemi's 2-0 shorthanded goal last week, is out due injury for 2-3 weeks.
