HK Nitra
Thursday 27.08.2015, 19:00 • Skellefteå Kraft Arena • Champions League • Group 4

    Welcome. Game starts at 19:00.

Skellefteå is back home after last weeks trip to Slovakia and Czech, a trip that ended up successful with two solid performances that did result in six points. The black and yellow team from Sweden opened this CHL-season in a impressive way with a 2-4 victory against HK Nitra, and followed that up with a shutout victory, 0-4, only to two days later in Czech, against HC Bili Tygri Liberec. The Swedes had full control of the tigers from Liberec and they now are big favourites to top their group in the first stage of CHL.

Prior to last Thursday's CHL opening day for Skellefteå AIK, they didnt know much about HK Nitra. After the 2-4 victory in the soldout arena they know clash into eachother again and Marcus Pettersson, defenseman of Skellefteå AIK, states to Skellefteå AIKs official website that they now have found some keys to play against Nitra:
    - We have found some keys. Creating turnarounds against them is one, they often search for the long coast to coast passes from defensive zone, if we can find a way to break these passes we will get rewarded with plenty of 3 versus 2, and also 4 versus 2, turnarounds.

You scored one goal against HK Nitra last Thursday, for your sake. How do you feel for this upcoming season?

    - I feel a lot stronger this year. Last year was like a rollercoaster, but as i said i feel stronger this year and im ready to earn my spot in this roster, says #8 Marcus Pettersson that looks to continue to play with #61 Fredrik Lindgren in the third line.

According to the local newspaper, www.norran.se, Skellefteå will play with almost identical lineups as in the two first games. The only change is that Andrew Calof steps up to the first line with Janne Pesonen and Patrik Zackrisson and Terry Broadhurst goes the other way, and replaces Calof in the third line where he will play together with John Norman and Axel Holmström.

They have traveled a long way, but now they are here in Skellefteå, Sweden. Im talking about the fans of HK Nitra that right now are getting in to the Skellefteå Kraft Arena. Almost 80 people in different ages, dressed in Nitra colors, will do their best to help their team to a victory here in Sweden.

We will be back in approximately ten minutes with the start of the second period. 19.50 (CET) to be accurate.

Even though HK Nitra has been playing solid and aggressive, they often get outplayed by a better and faster Skellefteå AIK and in the long run i have hard to see how the Slovaks will go home with three points from this match.

But thats the beatuy of this game, things can change fast and Nitra might step up. So hang tight folks.

Hello ladies and gentlemens, we are about to start the second period. Both teams has entered the ice.

Im experiencing some serious troubles with the connection to the Wifi here in Skellefteå Kraft Arena, and that is why you havent seen any updates the last minutes. They are working to find the problem as we speak.

    32:00
Anyway, the last four minutes hasnt been much to write about. Its not that high paced game that we witnessed in the first period, both teams has stepped of the gas pedal and now seems to have a competition in sloppy passes.

    32:40
HK Nitras second line is dangerous in every shift though and especially Marek Slovak looks sharp tonight.

    33:34
Tim Heed cuts through the Nitra defense and fires away a dangerous shot to the goal but Michal Valent continues to go big with another nice save. So far the Slovakian goalie is the man of the match, with 23 saves this far.

    40:00
    2nd period finished.

The second period ends scoreless and the match has really stepped down in quality and intensity. Both teams are struggling hard with their passes and often fails to deliver the puck to the correct target.

It will be interesting to see how the last period will come up though, Nitra needs to push for that game winning goal and would really need to go home from this night with three points.

Andrej Kmeč (HK Nitra assistant coach):
    - We knew coming up here would be tough because Skellefteå AIK is a very good team and it was very hard out there tonight for sure and even though im very happy with one point against this team i feel like maybe we should have won this in the shootouts but failed to succeed in that stage.
You now have one point and next game against Liberec will be a key game to clinch a playoff spot, what do you think about your chances?
    - Our chances is good i think, we´re gonna play against them on Saturday and if we win that match we will have a very good chance to clinch that playoff spot. But i think it will take a good effort to beat them, but i dont doubt my team.
You had some great support in this game with many fans that had traveled with you to Sweden, that must be a nice feeling?
    - Yes indeed, they are incredible for us. They truly are our sixth player.

Marcus Pettersson (Defenseman of Skellefteå AIK):
With this victory you clinched the playoff spot and probably you´ll get the first place in the group, congratulations!
    - Thanks a lot, it is true that we are in the playoffs now and that has been our ambition since day one so thats a really good feeling. Regarding the first place we still have one match yet to play and we will aim our focus toward that game against Liberec first of all and then we can talk about the playoffs.
    - I think it will be a really fun playoff with a lot of Swedish teams just as last year

Erik Hanses (Goaltender of Skellefteå AIK)
    - I think that we started this game really good and got that fast goal, but after that we just stopped playing good by some reason and they got two easy goals. Luckily we managed to tie the game before the buzzer of the first period. The second and third period wasnt much to talk about, just a bad icehockey game from both sides.
And in the shootouts it seemed like we wouldnt see a end of this game, have you ever experienced a situation like this with so many penalty shots?
    - No i never experienced something like this, but i felt like i got better and better control of their shooters the longer the shootout proceeded and it was a nice feeling when Terry scored that game winner! (22:18:13)
