Current Swiss champions HC Davos have flown out of the blocks in group E, winning both their road games in Sweden and the Czech Republic, scoring 7 goals and conceding only 2 in the process. A home win tonight in Europe's highest town all but guarantees their route into the next round. Andreas Ambuel leads the group in scoring with 3 goals and an assist in those two games.

Farjestad play the first of their two road games tonight, and it's a must win game for the Swedes – they currently sit in 3rd place on goal difference after being shut out at home 4-0 by tonight's hosts. The team from Karlstad failed to get out of the group stage in last year's tournament, but did however record two wins against their Swiss opponents, the ZSC lions.

Interestingly, tonight pitches Swiss hockey's record title holders against the most successful team in the history of top level hockey in Sweden – it will be an honour to witness this one!!

It's a beautiful and warm sunny evening here in Davos, Switzerland, with the temperature today around 25C! We're around 10 minutes away from Face Off now, and the fans are making their way into the arena slowly but surely.

Both teams have made their way on to to the ice and are huddling up around their netminders for a quick chat.

The starting lines are on, the officials are ready and we're ready to go here in Davos.

After 9 seconds, we have our first faceoff in the Davos zone.

The visitors have their first shot on goal leading to a second faceoff.

A faceoff win in the Swedish zone leads to a big scramble in the crease, but the net comes off it's moorings and the faceoff will be in the neutral zone.

Corvi for Davos fires a nice shot high on net, but Pogge in net brushes it away to safety.

Both teams are slowly finding their feet now, however there have only really been 2 meaningful chances in the opening 5 minutes.

Just as I say that Erixon has a great chance for Färjestad which Genoni manages to get his shoulder to, deflecting the puck to the corner.

Penalty killed, Färjestad back to full strength.

A faceoff to the right of the Färjestad net leads to an awkward shot on goal, but the puck is cleared and we will now have another bully in the Davos zone for icing. Very stop start game this so far.

Nice tip by #11 Nygardfrom off a Wallin shot from the point, goalie clears up.

Another icing by the hosts leads to a draw to the left of their net. Draw is won by Davos and the puck cleared out.

Once again, Genoni in the home net is tested from the slot as Robbie Earl moves in alone from the side boards.

Earl should be well know to the fans here, having played the previous 4 seasons in the NLA here!

Sciaroni just blocked at the far post on a nice wraparound effort, scores stay at zero with just over 3 minutes remaining in the first.

The first real open-ice hit sees Johan Ryno, the tallest player on the ice, fall to the ice. No damage done, he's straight back on his skates.

Davos win the faceoff and kill valuable seconds off the penalty.

They almost net shorthanded as #23 breaks free but misses.

Wikstrand absolutely rips one off the far post from the left point, this first period is ending 0-0.

A near breakthrough for the visitors as the hosts returned to full strength.

Davos also manage to fire off two good shots of their own in the opening exchange, this one has started a little livelier!

The home fans are doing all they can to put visitors off on this PP, they're making a lot of noise behind Leonardo Genoni in net who freezes the puck for a faceoff.

We haven't seen too much so far from Davos top scorer Andreas Ambuehl, will he be able to lift his game here and continue his scoring streak?

A wrister from the high slot from Roymark comes to nothing and Davos clear the puck.

Two big errors from Davos are not capitalised on by the visitors.

Ambuehl opened his legs up there and almost created something for the hosts but the Swedish netminder was equal to it. Faceoff in the offensive zone for HC Davos.

Ambuehl once again comes close on a 1 on 1 break.

BIG HIT at centre ice sees Mauro Juerg get back to his feet very slowly – penalty has been signalled here.

Slight delay as the Färjestad goal needs to be adjusted back into place.

Captain Tollefsen playing a good aggressive penalty kill here, and we're down to just 27 seconds on the PP.

Penalty is killed by Färjestad and both teams change up.

Davos have been turning the screw ever so slightly in the last 10 minutes, but haven't managed to change the scoreline as yet.

Great lateral pass over the blueline by Wallin to his left winger but the shot goes just wide.

Wikstrand breaks up a potential 2 on 1 for Davos and clears it out. Little flow to this game towards the end of the 2nd period.

OFF THE POST! The visitors almost open the scoring, but the post comes to the rescue for the 2nd time for Davos.

The play stops in the neutral zone due to high stick touching the puck 46 seconds into the powerplay, Davos haven't been able to set up just yet.

Davos set up the box-play and come close. Both teams change up with under a minute of the man advantage remaining.

The visitors kill off the powerplay and force a faceoff in the Davos zone.

Almost half way through the 3rd period, and still neither HC Davos or Färjestad Karlstad have managed to find the net. The shots on goal have not been announced at all so far tonight, but i'd be surprised if either team has managed 20.

John Persson and Beat Forster mix it up a little down low in the Davos end. Two of the biggest guys out on the ice had a nice battle going on there, but the refs keep the whistles in their pockets and play continues.

High glove catch from Genoni as a wrister finds it's way in from Wikstrand at the left point.

Ole-Kristian Tollefsen trips, and in the process takes maybe a stick to the face – he's back on his feet and goes to the bench for attention.

As the last minutes tick down, the crowd is getting increasingly annoyed at the referees. We're into the last 2 minutes.
