The Finns finished the previous series with one victory and one loss and they reached the 1/8 Finals thanks to better total score. Just as in the 1/16 Finals they won the first game of the ongoing series. The Blues beat Jonkoping 3–1 last Tuesday, which gave them a two-goal advantage. Will they win the second match as well or can we expect a dramatic battle? The answer is coming soon.
Play-off results:
Espoo – Manheim 4–1
Manheim – Espoo 3–2
Espoo – Jonkoping 3–1
The Swedes qualified to the 1/8 Finals after an away draw and a home win against Czech Ocelari Trinec. Their third game in the playoffs brought them a first defeat as they lost 3–1 to Espoo Blues last Tuesday. Being down by two goals isn't a comfortable situation for HV71, but 60 minutes of hockey is enough time for a possible comeback.
Play-off results:
Trinec – Jonkoping 2–2
Jonkoping – Trinec 3–1
Espoo – Jonkoping 3–1
