This was a close one. Fribourg and KalPa played a very good and intense match and in the end the swiss side gets a nice goal in OT to take the victory in this duel. The fans are singing their anthe,m of victory "lyoba", an ancient song from the alps and the players celebrate this win. Overall Fribourg deserved the victory, even if KalPa was a strong opponent during the two matches.

20 minutes left – until this moment who are not closer to a decision in this matchup than we were after game 1... Stay tuned.

After two periods the score is still even between these two teams 2-2. In the second it was Fribourg who scored first. Just second safter having killed a 5-on-3 penalty the home side took the lead from the stick of Michal Birner. The new attacker (who played some years ago also for KalPa) finished a great preparation work from Julien Sprunger.
Later in this period, there were more and more little errors in the swiss defense and it was after a nice transition pass that Tommi Jokinen faced Conz all alone and made this one a tie-game again.

    36:06
And then the refs are – again – in the center of the interest. The penalty called against Fribourg is – at least – hard. Nevertheless, Marchon is sent to the bench.

    26:22
Fribourg has taken the lead in this game and also leads on aggregate (3-2). As the away goals do not count double in the CHL, KalPa needs one goal at least to get an OT now. But Fribourg seems not to slow down the pace, its a good game with chances on both sides so far.

We will be back with more action from BCF-Arena in about 12 minutes.

The first period ends with a tied score 1-1 (2-2 on aggregate). KalPa started with very high energy in this game, creating a bunch of scoring chances. this efforts paid off after 7:24 when Myttynen scored after a nice deke to avoid a defender and aiming his shot in the upper right corner. Fribourg had some problems to find a way back in this game, but after the equalizer scored on a breakaway by Mauldin, the home side was back. Fribourg was even closer to score the second goal after that, but they were not lucky on these attempts. A last minute penalty against Neukom will offer the guests from KalPa the opportunity to begin the second 20 minutes with a 5-on-4 Powerplay.

Birner and Sprunger are close to get the lead for Fribourg, but somehow KalPa can clear this one.

    12:42
    Icing Kuopio

    Game started.

The starting six are ready on the ice, we are about to start this game in a few seconds.

The referees for this game are Brüggemann from Germany and Kubus from Slovakia assisted by linesmen Kovacs and Progin from Switzerland.

The two Cramo Topscorers are Roman Cervenka for the swiss and Jesse Mankinen for the finnish side.

Other important points from the lineups: Fribourg is starting with Benjamin Conz in the net, this goalie is back in play after that coach Larry Huras gave Dennis Saikkonen a starting opportunity in Kuopio. The goaltender for Kalpa tonight is Severi Kinnunen.

The home fans are really awaiting tonights matchup, as this is the first appearance on the ice for the new Fribourg attacker Michal Birner, who was recently released from his contract with Traktor Tscheljabinsk.
Interesting fact, that today there are only two players which were selected for the World Cup of Hockey in September and October 2016 that are not playing either in the NHL or KHL: Roman Cervenka and Michal Birner. Today these two attackers will be reunited for the first time in Fribourg and joined by team-captain Julien Sprunger to make a very interesting offensive line...
