		With a spectacular performance Slovakia beat today very harmless Americans with 4-1 and secured the last quarterfinal spot in the Helsinki group. The afternoon game between Germany and France now is without meaning as Germany only can also get to 10 points but lost the direct match with Slovakia (2-3). For the Americans it's bitter as they had the big opportunity to win the group and now easily could become third and would have to play against Russia in the quarterfinals now. 	59:55	Erik Johnson (USA) gets two minutes for cross-checking against Tomas Zaborsky who just seconds before had missed the fifth for Slovakia!
	59:31	Zaborsky against three Americans, gets the shot on goal but easily blocked to the side by Bishop.
	58:36	Goal for Team Slovakia! MARKO DANO failed with a shot towards the empty net from within the neutral zone but team captain Miroslav Satan won the puck back inside the American third and Dano then scored into the wide open net from short distance for the decision in this game! Assisted by Miroslav Satan.
	58:10	Clearance by the Slovakian defense but stopped inside the neutral zone by the Americans.
	57:43	The Americans risk everything now and pull out their goalie Bishop for an additional skater!
	56:34	Andrej Sekera with a shot from within the slot, not precise enough though and Bishop makes an easy pad save.
	55:27	Stephen Gionta with a shot from the right circle, the angle was a bit sharp but almost the puck went through the five hole. Stana had his pads in between in time though.

	53:20	Fast attack by the Slovakians over the right wing and from the right circle Surovy tried it with a back hander which went wide.

	51:05	The Slovakians are patiently waiting for the Americans to do something but today the USA lack creativity and will. The game clearly suffers from it.
	50:00	Ten minutes left in regulation. It doesn't really look like the Americans could be a threat for a Slovakian win anymore.
	48:10	The Americans are forced out of the Slovakian third and during teh attempt to re-ente rit they are called back for offside.
	47:26	Blue line shot by Bobby Butler, misses the net and the puck goes past the right post.

	45:57	Tomas Zaborsky with a shot towards the right bottom corner from within the slot, no danger though for Bishop.
	44:28	Huge break away opportunity for Marko Dano who had only Bishop in front of him and one defender who was a little left to him but the American goalie Bishop made a big save!

	43:29	The Americans are back at full strength and did a good job killing this penalty.

		The Americans disappointed again during most parts of the middle period and wasted several good scoring opportunities before Vydareny was able to end one of the dangerous Slovakian attacks with the third goal for his team. In the last minute of the period though Danny Kristo brought some hope back to the USA. Shots on goal: Slovakia 8 (17) – USA 6 (14)

	39:14	Goal for Team USA! Finally the efforts of the AMericans pay off and DANNY KRISTO gets them onto the scoreboard with a precise shot from a half right position past a surprised Stana who barely saw anything with a player directly in front of him! Assisted by Matt Carle.
	37:13	Another distance shot by the Americans, this time towards the right bottom corner and Stana needed the whole length of his legs to make a pad save!
	36:31	Danny Kristo received a long pass at the Slovakian blue line but then his fast shot was no danger for Stana who made an easy save with his chest.
	35:53	2-on-2 counter attack by the Americans but the last pass went wide.
	35:00	Slovakia have still everything under controll very easily against completely helpless Americans. The Slovakian fans are celebrating their team all time.
	33:43	Long pass by the Americans towards the Slovakian blue line but Bobby Butler wasn't fast enough to get the puck and the situation ended with an icing.

	31:23	On the other side of the ice Stapleton was stopped once more by Stana with a short distance shot!
	30:47	Goal for Team Slovakia! Is this already the decision for Slovakia? In power play RENE VYDARENY received a perfect pass by Tomas Zaborsky and had little to no trouble to send the puck into the right corner fro mshort distance! Assisted by Tomas Zaborsky and Roman Kukumberg.
	30:18	After a dangerous cross-pass in front of the American net first Roman Kukumberg and then Michel Miklik with the rebound failed to get the puck past Bishop from short distance!
	28:57	Craig Smith (USA) gets 2+10 minutes for misconduct and a check to the head and neck area.
	28:12	Martin Bartek with a dangerous cross-pass from the right wing but his team mates in front of Bishop missed the puck.
	26:57	A shot by Stephen Gionta almost led to the next counter for Slovakia. The Americans continue to lack concentration.
	25:59	Shot from the right circle by Mario Bliznak, blocked by a defender.
	25:07	Long clearance by the Slovakians and they are now back at full strength.
	24:37	Three Americans were needed to stop one Slovakian during another Slovak counter!

	22:38	Miroslav Satan with a counter for Slovakia but he was all alone against two defenders, had to stop and wait for a team colleague deep inside the American third but then the US boys cleared the situation.
	21:30	Slovakia came a lot more aggressive out of the dressing rooms.

		The Slovakians – who with a three point win in this match would be qualfiied for the quarterfinals – started with incredible pressure and already had a 2-0 lead after just a little more than three minutes. With the time progressing the at first nervous Americans found into the match more and more and had several big scoring opportunities but so far Stana kept his net clean with spectacular saves! 	19:31	Two shots by David Moss are blocked by the Slovakian defense.
	18:19	After Stana allowed a rebond Danny Kristo appeared alone in front of the Slovakian net but just missed it and the puck went past the right post!
	17:35	Turnover by the Slovakian defense but the Americans can't use it.

	15:35	Bad pass by one of the American forwards, leaves the Slovakian third.
	14:32	Double chance for Tim Stapleton who received a nice pass towards the Slovakian net just in front of Stana who then made two spectacular pad saves!
	13:20	Several dangerous shots on goal from short distance by the Slovakians after a counter but Bishop keeps the puck out of his net.
	13:05	TJ Oshie with a scoring attempt from a half right position but blocked by a defender. The puck then came back to Oshie who tried it with a wrap-around but lost the puck to another defender...

	12:05	One-timer by Tim Stapleton from within the slot, maybe three metres in front of Stana and the Slovakian goalie makes a spectacular pad save! By far the best opportunity for the Americans in this match.
	11:27	Blue line shot by Mezei at height of the left wing, blocked to the side by the goalie.
	10:30	The Americans keep the match a bit more open currently but still the Slovakians make the more dangerous impression.
	09:38	The Slovakians are back at full strength.
	09:13	One-timer by Erik Johnson from a half left position, doesn't make its way through to the goal.
	08:21	2-on-2 counter of the Slovakians, Miklik receives a perfect cross-pass by Kopecky at the left post but from short distance he only hit Bishop! What a chance!

	07:22	Almost Marcel Hascak forced his way to the US net after battling for the puck with the last defender but in the end the American was able to clear the situation.
	05:15	So far the USA have not created even a little danger. They are in a state of complete shock after the early double by the Slovakians.
	03:44	Goal for Team Slovakia! Half a minute after the Americans were back at fulls trength MARTIN BARTEK doubled the lead for Slovakia! He skated past the left wing and tried it with a shot from the left circle that somehow went into the left corner through the arms of Bishop! Assisted by Miroslav Satan.
	02:58	The Slovakians keep the pressure high inside the opponents' third but the shot by Michel Mikllik from a half right position goes wide.
	01:38	Large crowd in front of the American net, the North Americans with huge problems to get the puck away but in the end they clear the situation.

		The match between Slovakia and the USA is of major importance for both sides. With a win the USA would win the Helsinki group while Slovakia would be qualified for the quarterfianls with a three-point win. In the case of a two-point win Slovakia would need a French win later today against Germany to qualify and in the case of 1-point they need France to win in overtime. Should Slovakia lose in regulation they are out of competition though before the match between Germany and France even started.
