Live from Fribourg, this is Alain Hauert. I wish you all a good night! (22:49:35)

    Antti Törmänen (Coach, IFK Helsinki):
"My feelings after this match are quite mixed. We had a lot of chances and our efficiency was quite poor, this is the main reason why we didn’t win this game. But im also proud that my team found a way to come back twice, after being 1-0 and 2-1 behind, this tie is not bad as a base for the home game."

"Next Tuesday we can play in front of our crowd, on home ice, and we will have to find the power to get a strong match. We need a win, thats clear, but I am sure we can grab this one at home!"

    Gerd Zenhäusern (Coach, Fribourg-Gottéron):
"For me it was a special game as it was my first CHL match as a head coach. In fact that makes me proud. On the other side I’m not totally satisfied, because I think we could have won this game."

"Still we have to admit, that Helsinki deserved the equalizer over the whole game and now we must show our best hockey to advance to the next round. The advantage is now on the side of IFK."

"What makes me believe in our chance is the fact, that some of my players should come back from injurys for the next game, but today also the young players that we had to put in our rooster did a good job and I was happy with their performance."

Thank you for your interest in this live report, I will be back at BCF-Arena in Fribourg for you in case that Fribourg-Gottéron can make it through to the quarterfinals.

    Shots on goal: 5-13
    Penalty minutes: 2-2
    Goals: 1-1.

Both teams have really improved their level in this second period. It is now a fast and intense match between these two teams. And both sides managed to get on the scoring board. First it was the home side, who took the lead. Fribourg played it well during a 4-on-4 situation (Auvitu and Mauldin where in the penalty-box). The swiss team seemed in a really good shape after this goal, but an error in the offense gave the break-away chance for Goldobin, who scored the equalizer. After this situation, the game was open and it was Helsinki who created the best chance to get a second goal. But Blomqvist was denied by Conz. Therefore the score is still even after 40 minutes: 1-1.

The referees for this game are Manuel Nikolic from Austria and Robin Sir from Czech Republic, assisted by the swiss linesmen Roman Kaderli and Balazs Kovacs.

For the coach of the finnish side, Antti Tormänen, this game is also a return to a place where he celebrated one of his biggest victories as a coach so far. It was in 2013, when Tormänen defeated Fribourg-Goittöson with his team SC Berne in the swiss playoff-finals to win the championship.

The question for the home crowd is, if they are going to see Fribourg in Champions League shape (as they played very well in this competition so far) or if there will be the same problems they encountered in the first part of the national championship.

The teams are on the ice for the warm-up session. No big surprises in the line-ups, but Fribourg has with some very young players tonight, especially in defense – due to several injurys.
In front of the net for the home side starts Benjamin Conz, the starting goaltender for Helsinki is Ville Husso. Cramo Topscorers: Greg Mauldin for Fribourg, Teemu Ramstedt for IFK Helsinki.

    Starting lineups:

Fribourg-Gottéron: Conz (Nyffeler) – Kwiatkowski, Ngoy, Huguenin, Montandon, Kamerzin, Schilt, Knutti, Wildhaber – Plüss, Dubé, Sprunger – Tambellini, Pouliot, Mauldin – Hasani, Ness, Mottet – Bruegger, Marchon, Fritsche

IFK Helsinki: Husso (Lankinen) – Grillfors, Honkaheimo, Heikkinen, Auvitu, Teppo, Salmi, Tarkkanen – Ikonen, Elkins, Zaborsky – Asten, Ramstedt, Goldobin – Partanen, Nykopp, Lamberg – Tamminen, Luttinen, Blomqvist

Referees: Sir (CZE), Nikolic (AUT) – Kaderli (SUI), Kovacs (SUI).

My name is Alain Hauert and I will be your live reporter for tonights game.

Welcome to BCF-arena in Fribourg for this match between Fribourg-Gottéron and IFK Helsinki.

This live text coverage is produced by www.championshockeyleague.net.

In this eighth-final game of this years CHL season, Fribourg-Gottéron will meet IFK Helsinki. Even the swiss side was the seeded team and would normally by winning the group stage in Group D (with PSG Zlin, Eisbären Berlin and Djurgarden Stockholm) also have won the home ice advantage for this first play-off round, the first game will take place in Fribourg. This is due to the fact, that the home arena of IFK Helsinki was not free on the scheduled day for the first game.

This is one more reason why Fribourg-Gotteron will have to play a strong first match, if the team wants to continue its way through Europe this season.
Actually Fribourg-Gottéron has shown two very different faces to the fans so far. In CHL the team played very well, especially in the defense and did not allow many goals against. In the national championship NLA, on the other side, the "dragons" had a very bad start. As they were able to get 9 points out of the last 4 games, the team is now a little relaunched, but Fribourg still has to win games for getting a playoff-spot in march.

The opponent for the swiss in this eighth-final is IFK Helsinki. The team from the finnish capital was second in their Group behind Skelleftea AIK, but they qualified also for the Playoff-stage, as one of the five best-performing runner-ups. In total they were able to win 14 points in the CHL group-stage, which means they totalized exactly the same number of points as Fribourg. In their home championship Liiga, HIFK is placed in 7th position.

Also there are two games to decide which team will continue the european adventure and qualify for the next round, the first game is important. Fribourg must show, that changing home ice will not be an error and trying to get a good situation for the second game in Finland next week, while Helsinki is trying to prepare a good base for their qualification they would like to celebrate with their fans on november 11 at their home arena.

    Welcome. Game starts at 19:45.
