Murphy shoots from the blueline and the puck flies in the air. Markkanen hardly gets a hit to the puck and SaiPa defence is jumping to get puck back on the ice.

Hennesy passes the puck to his team mate who skates in and shoots. There are not any players in the mask so Markkanen tooks puck easily.

SaiPa forward Kuronen blocks the shot but can keep on playing.

It's time for Jussi Markkanen to cover up the puck.

After playing short handed SaiPa gets back on track. Taipalus and hard slapshot makes Eriksson save and after that it leads icing.

Växjö holds the puck, passes and passes. SaiPa can't send the puck away. Teams are full strengh.

Back on the ice and the game continues! SaiPa is playing shorthanded 1:26 in second period.

It is SaiPa who are controlling the game now in the Växjö's area. Växjö is having little bit difficulties to send puck away. Finally the puck flies to the safety net.

Netterberg gets the puck right before the blueline, skates in and shoots aggressively. No goal.

Kuronen skates in, makes few tricks and shoots. Eriksson covers the puck. At the same time power break.

Here we go to the SaiPa's area where Växjö had few opportunities. The most dangerous was when the puck slides to the post.

Cramo Top Scorer Koskiranta shoots the puck but the puck flies over the goal.

The game is now played in the SaiPa's corner but finally Koski from team SaiPa takes a puck and skates away.

Växjö is moving puck in the SaiPa's zone but no difficult shots from the blue line.

Good evening from the Kisapuisto Icehall, Lappeenranta Finland. In one hour there are Finnish and Swedish hockey teams facing each other in the rink.

Home team SaiPa and away team Vaxjo Lakers Hockey are playing first time against each other. The both teams have been very successful in Champions Hockey League so far. SaiPa has win all six games before this game and Vaxjo has only two loses in extra time.

SaiPa are another side hose record in the CHL this season is in contrast to their own league record. A first win in three over the weekend against TPS in a shootout sees them head into this this tie off the back of a victory, having comfortably beaten Liiga leaders Tappara in the Round of 32 to make it this far. Vaxjo are on a run of three wins on the spin in the SHL, and were narrow winners over Munich in the last round of this competition.

They have lot of skilled players, many of whom we know from Finnish Liiga. We expect them to play typical Swedish hockey: a lot of speed and skill,” commented SaiPa Assistant Coach Tuomo Ropo. “Växjö had good results last week in the SHL, winning all of their three games, so we have to be ready from the beginning.”

“SaiPa knocked out Tappara in the CHL and have beaten IFK Helsinki in their league so we’re coming up against a good team,” added Lakers’ Head Coach Sam Hallam. “We’ve never made the quarterfinals so it’s a good challenge for us to take on. We have to continue working and concentrate on every detail – sometimes it’s the small things that can make the difference.”
