JYP Jyväskylä
Tuesday 01.11.2016, 19:45 • PostFinance-Arena • Champions League • 1/16 Finals

What a game that was. A dominant JYP lead by two goals to nothing after the first 20 minutes but then BRN scored 3 goals in the next 20 and safely brought back the lead in last 20 minutes of the game. They see each other again next week on the 8th in Jyväskylä with BRN in the advantage. Have good night, bye from Bern. (22:01:58)

Yes they can! The game is over and BRN takes away a win in the first game against JYP.

    Game over.

    58:49
JYP is pushing hard. Can BRN hold on to the lead?

    56:37
After a big hit against Blum (BRN) a fight erupts in the middle of the field. No penalties are given.

    54:45
JYP Coach Virtanen is delaying the game by talking to the ref. The crowd in the PostFinance-Arena doesn't like that at all.

    52:19
Genoni with a uncertainty behind the goal. He nearly gave the puck away.

    52:02
The game gets more physical right now.

    49:58
    Today's attendance is 13'660.

    48:52
Good chance for Kanninen but Genoni stops the puck comfortably.

    48:38
BRN is managing the lead very good. JYP doesn't get too many chances.

    46:50
Chances on both side but nothing too dangerous.

    43:41
Bodenmann gets through to Tuokkola but can't get the puck into the net.

    42:30
Not much to talk about right now. both teams are neutralising each other.

    40:01
    Start of 3rd period.

They're both back on the ice. The last few seconds on the clock are running down. Hockey is back very soon.

What a difference a third makes! BRN was 0:2 down after the first 20 minutes but scored 3 goals in the second 20 minutes. Jyväskylä seemed to be in shock from time to time but they got back into the game at the end of the third. It's going to be a very interesting last 20 minutes in Bern. We'll be back in about 16 minutes.

    40:00
    2nd period finished.

    39:02
BRN is also back in JYPs third and won't leave as well. The game is very open right now.

    37:33
The pressure is building in front of Genoni. JYP won't leave BRNs third.

    36:36
JYP is slowly getting back to their game. BRN is doing a good job in defending.

    34:43
    Visiting team at full strength.

    33:10
That should had been the 4 goal for BRN. Ebbett misses the puck in front of Tuokkola.

    32:38
What a turnaround by BRN. JYP seems to be shocked. Another good chance for BRN by Plüss. Tuokkola holds on to the puck as hard as he can.

    31:26
    GOAL for Bern!
Noreau shoots form the blue line and the puck gets deflected by MARK ARCOBELLO in front of Tuokkola. Assisted by: Maxim Noreau, Andrew Ebbett.

    30:40
Penalty for JYP Jyväskylä (Nattinen – 2 min., hooking).

    30:23
What a game changer!! BRN used two situations where JYP didn't defend consistent. Now both teams are going for it again.

    28:40
    GOAL for Bern!
A big crowd gathered in front of Tuokkola. The puck was left unattended and RÜFENACHT was the quickest to react. Assisted by: Simon Moser, Mark Arcobello.

    28:09
    GOAL for Bern!
What a goal. RYAN LASCH goes coast to coast and finishes in style. That was the perfect one-man show. Unassisted.

    25:37
BRN can loosen up the pressure a bit and gets some chance of their own.

    23:15
Back to serious hockey now. JYP is pushing again. BRN doesn't leave their own third that much.

    22:01
Some funny moments in the game – First Tuokkola drops his stick by mistake and then the ref comes flying. The audience is having a laugh.

    21:16
    Visiting team at full strength.

    20:34
Still time for a goal in PP for BRN. So far they had two shots on Tuokkola.

    20:01
    Start of 2nd period.

They're both on the ice again. 40 seconds till the puck drops.

That's it for the first 20 minutes. The first part of the game was firmly in the hands of JYP. Out of 2 PP situations they scored 2 goals. After that BRN came back into the game but JYP played a clever defence game. BRN will start the second period in PP for 1:15. We'll be back in about 15 minutes.

    20:00
    1st period finished.

    19:15
Penalty for JYP Jyväskylä (Vaakanainen – 2 min., cross-checking).

    16:36
JYP is playing cat and mouse with BRN. They're keeping the puck among themself and stop BRN from powering back into the game this way.

    15:05
BRN is creating much more space for themself. So far without any profit.

    12:28
The Bear is waking up. Two fairly good chances for BRN in the last minutes.

    10:17
Big chance for Moser (BRN). He gets the puck in front of Tuokkola and shots about 3 times, without any luck. BRN is playing more physical now.

    08:43
JYP is attacking BRN very early. The swiss team has big troubles getting out of their own third.

    07:10
No time to breath for both teams. The tempo is very high tonight. Maybe a bit to high for BRN in the first few minutes, that's why they were too late and took 2 penalties which both resulted in goals for JYP.

    06:06
How can BRN respond to those two early goals. First thing to do is to stop taking penalties.

    04:54
    GOAL for JYP Jyväskylä!
Again they used their Powerplay to perfection. SAMI NIKU saw the traffic in front of Genoni and tried his luck. Assisted by: Juha-Pekka Hytonen, Janne Tavi.

    03:48
Once again a tricky situation for BRN. A silly penalty by Plüss gives JYP another two minutes in PP.

    03:23
Penalty for SC Bern (PLÜSS – 2 min., tripping).

    02:14
    GOAL for JYP Jyväskylä
Typical Powerplay goal. Tuppurainen was looking for ANTTI SUOMELA and passed in front Genoni for a easy goal. Assisted by: Jane Tuppurainen, Joonas Nattinen.

    01:45
Penalty for SC Bern (Jobin – 2 min., holding).

    00:49
No time to easily get into to the game. Both teams are already pushing the tempo.

    00:01
    Game started.

Both teams are on the blue line and the CHL hymn is playing.

It's a fairly big crowd already and there are still people coming into the stadium. It looks like it's going to be a good hockey spectacle. 3 minutes till the puck drops.

The siren echoes through the stadium – The warm-up is over and the game starts in about 18 minutes. Stay tuned

SC Bern are the form side going into the Last 16 of the CHL, with five wins on the bounce in the NLA having moved them well up the table into second. The team have also cruised through the CHL so far with only one draw stopping an otherwise perfect record – however JYP will be their first real test after facing opposition from Austria and Slovakia to date. The Finns have won their last two Liiga matches to just sneak into the top ten there, however in the CHL they’ve been a bit hot and cold – eliminating Skelleftea 6-4 in the last round but losing the return leg, and having lost both matches to Linkoping in the group stage while beating Rouen.

“JYP might not be so well known, but they’re a top team, and I’m expecting they’ll put us under a lot of pressure even in our arena,” confessed SCB netminder Leonardo Genoni. “At this stage of the tournament you only come up against good teams. I’ve loved the CHL so far, and the trips to away matches have strengthened our team spirit too”.
