Blues starts with Engstrand, Rantakari, Kaijomaa, Kangasniemi, Makkonen and Poukkula.

Both teams on the ice. Three minutes until game begins.

There is common link between coaching history of two teams. Håkan Nygren coached HV71 in 1993-94 and Blues in 1996-98. Additionally, Harri Rindell played for HV71 and later coached in Espoo.

Along with Karalahti, Finnish players include goaltenders Kimmo Kapanen and Jarmo Myllys, defensemen Mika Niskanen and Kimmo Peltonen as well as forwards Marko Palo and Antti Törmänen.

Of the Swedish players, HV71 legend Johan Davidsson also visited in Espoo, representing Blues in 2000-01. Other Swedish players who have played for both teams are Marcus Kristoffersson and Mika Hannula.

Ten players have represented both teams including seven Finns and three Swedes. Only current player to do so is Jere Karalahti, who spent 2010-11 season in Espoo. Blues got silver medal during that season.

Traditionally, there has been lots of movement between two countries. In this game, some players will meet the team from their own country. HV71 has two Finnish players in its roster: winger Teemu Laine and defenseman Jere Karalahti. Blues has Swedish goaltender Christian Engstrand.

In the SHL, top scorer of the team is Mattias Tedenby with 14 points in 16 games. Defenseman Niklas Hansson has 13 points.

HV71 is 11th in the SHL. After bad streak early, they won four straight games before last week which didn't go as well. Like Blues, HV71 lost its first two games against Djurgårdens IF and Frölunda, before getting two points against Växjö Lakers.

The past week included three tough away games. Having lost to Tappara and HIFK, Blues finally won against TPS in overtime. The team captain Kim Hirschovits scored the game-winner on power play. He is the top scorer of the team with 11 points. The player with most goals is his linemate Ville Korhonen, who has put the puck into the net seven times.

Blues has 20 points from 19 games in Finland, but in the tight league that means the last place in the standings, although they are on level with two other teams who have five regulation victories against four for Blues.

One of three Finland-Sweden matchups will start in Espoo as Blues will host HV71 from Jönköping. Both teams have struggled early in their domestic leagues, so advancing to quarterfinals would be a big achievement at this point.

    Welcome. Game starts at 17:30.
